Harriet Dart and Fran Jones have both advanced to the second round of US Open qualifying, keeping their hopes alive of reaching the main singles draw. Dart, a two-time US Open second-round participant, defeated American Jordyn Hazelitt 6-0, 6-7 (1-7), 6-1 in her first-round qualifying match in New York. She is scheduled to face 16-year-old American Kristina Penickova in the next round.

Jones, who successfully qualified for the US Open for the first time last year, secured a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Italy's Nuria Brancaccio. She will now play Mona Barthel of Germany. However, fellow Briton Jodie Burrage was eliminated in her opening match, losing to Spain's Guiomar Maristany 7-6 (7-1), 6-4.

In the men's qualifying, Henry Searle was defeated 6-1, 6-2 by 16-year-old American Michael Antonius. Antonius will face former US Open finalist Kei Nishikori, who won his first-round match against Sebastian Ofner 6-1, 2-6, 6-2. Former US Open semi-finalist Grigor Dimitrov advanced with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Lorenzo Giustino and will play Timofey Skatov in his next match.

Bianca Andreescu, the 2019 US Open champion, progressed in the women's draw with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Eva Vedder of the Netherlands. Heather Watson is set to compete in her second-round qualifying match against Spain's Angela Fita Boluda on Wednesday. Several other British players, including Jacob Fearnley, Toby Samuel, Billy Harris, Harry Wendelken, and Jack Pinnington Jones, are also continuing their qualifying campaigns.

Players must win three rounds of qualifying matches to earn a spot in the main singles draw, which is scheduled to begin on Sunday.
