Daniel Dubois Dominates Fabio Wardley in Quick Stoppage to Retain WBO Title
Dubois delivered a powerful performance, knocking out Wardley in the second round to secure his championship.
Daniel Dubois solidified his position as Britain's top heavyweight by defeating Fabio Wardley in a swift second-round stoppage to maintain his WBO title in London.
The 29-year-old boxer landed a decisive straight right within the first 20 seconds of the highly anticipated rematch at the O2 Arena, quickly overwhelming his opponent. Although Wardley managed to survive the initial round, Dubois continued his aggressive assault in the second, leading to his corner throwing in the towel.
This victory marks Dubois' second consecutive stoppage win over Wardley. It comes just five months after their previous encounter, where Dubois was knocked down twice but ultimately triumphed in an 11-round contest in Manchester.
In contrast to their last bout, there was no such drama for Dubois this time. He controlled the fight from the opening bell, extending his professional record to 24 wins, with 23 coming by knockout, against three defeats.
"Fabio is a great boy, coming in for the second time, but it was my time and my era. I had my intentions, bad intentions from the beginning," Dubois stated after the fight. "My back was against the wall the first time, this time we just had to go out there and show that we mean business, which is what we did tonight."
Wardley, 31, sustained his second professional career defeat in his 23rd fight.
