Cristiano Ronaldo has been handed a 30-day suspension by the Portuguese Football Federation for leaving the national team's training camp in September. The federation's disciplinary council upheld the charge against the 41-year-old forward, also imposing a fine of 255 euros.
Ronaldo departed the squad after being an unused substitute in a match against Norway and subsequently learning he would not start against Denmark. At the time, he stated in a press release that he had left because the Portugal coach, Jorge Jesus, had "broken his word" twice, citing an "absolute breach of trust." The Al-Nassr player was provisionally suspended on October 9, with the disciplinary council's decision on Monday confirming the full charge and sanction.
