Cristiano Ronaldo Receives Minor Fine and Backdated Ban for Portugal Camp Departure
Portuguese football chiefs impose a nominal £215 fine and a one-month ban, backdated to September 30, on the star player.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been fined £215 and handed a backdated one-month ban for leaving Portugal's training camp without permission in September. The punishment, determined by Portuguese football chiefs, means the star player will not miss any upcoming matches as the ban concluded on November 14, coinciding with Portugal's fixture against Denmark.
This penalty, which Ronaldo can reportedly earn back in approximately 38 seconds on his £488,000-a-day salary at Al-Nassr, stems from his actions prior to Portugal's recent international matches. The forward's departure led to him skipping three training sessions and leaving the camp for the fixtures against Norway and the Czech Republic. He reportedly traveled to Spain via private jet and did not watch one of the matches.
The incident had raised concerns about its potential to end Ronaldo's international career, disrupt the national team, and undermine the authority of manager Jorge Jesus.
