Cristiano Ronaldo Not Retiring From International Play, Blames Coach for Portugal Squad Exit

Cristiano Ronaldo has indicated he will not retire from international soccer, despite recently walking out on the Portugal squad. The 41-year-old forward stated in a message released Tuesday that he remains available to play for his national team.

Ronaldo attributed his departure from the squad during the current international window to a disagreement with newly appointed coach Jorge Jesus. He claimed Jesus did not adhere to an agreed-upon plan regarding playing time for the striker in recent Nations League matches.

According to Ronaldo, the coach's subsequent aggressive remarks at a press conference, rather than a public clarification as expected by Ronaldo, led to a breakdown in trust. Ronaldo stated that he owes his teammates an apology and anticipates receiving a suspension.

"I can promise all my fans, and naturally especially all Portuguese people, that we will have one or more farewell matches. There will be time for that," Ronaldo said in his statement. He added that once any imposed suspension is served, he will be available to compete for Portugal, provided he is physically fit and performing well for his club.
