Cristiano Ronaldo has indicated that he will likely retire from professional football at the conclusion of the current season. The 41-year-old athlete shared this prospect in a recent interview discussing his wedding to Georgina Rodriguez.

Ronaldo, who married Rodriguez on August 11, the 10th anniversary of their first meeting, spoke about his future plans with Vogue. "This is probably my last year of football, and I want to leave a spectacular legacy," Ronaldo stated. "I have my future all mapped out. I have so many things to keep me busy that to tell you just one thing is hard. Because football could leave a big hole, you have to fill your time in various ways, not just one."

He added, "And also have more fun, travel more, watch and play padel, which I really like, and continue to enjoy what I've earned - what we've earned. Because after all it's been 25 years with a lot of sacrifice."

Ronaldo, who debuted for Sporting Lisbon 24 years ago, has had a lengthy career playing for clubs including Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and currently Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League. His comments come shortly after Lionel Messi, another prominent player of his generation, made a statement that hinted at his own potential retirement following the passing of his father.

Ronaldo offered a message of support to Messi on social media, writing, "A huge hug to you and yours in these tough times, Leo. Much strength."
