Cowboys Cornerback Cobie Durant Injured After Being Stepped On by Teammate
Durant left the game against the Commanders after a collision in the end zone and a subsequent step from Markquese Bell.
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Cobie Durant exited the game with an injury during Sunday's 37-20 victory over the Washington Commanders. The incident occurred in the second quarter as Durant was defending Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin in the end zone.
After a pass fell incomplete, Durant hit the ground. As he was on the turf, Cowboys safety Markquese Bell, while moving backward, inadvertently stepped on Durant, striking him in the groin area. Durant remained on the ground for a period, appearing to be in pain, before being assisted by trainers. He did not return to the game.
Durant joined the Cowboys in the offseason on a one-year contract worth $4 million. He previously spent four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, where he recorded 141 tackles and seven interceptions in 61 games. In the week prior, he had one tackle and a pass breakup against the New York Giants.
The Cowboys improved to 1-1 on the season with the win, while the Commanders fell to 0-2. Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels also suffered an injury during the game, reportedly a dislocated elbow. The Cowboys' defense held Washington to 10 second-half points and forced one turnover.
