Corey Pavin, the 1995 U.S. Open golf champion, has announced that his wife, Lisa, is undergoing further cancer treatment. In a social media post, Pavin revealed that Lisa, 52, is set to receive CAR-T cell-based gene therapy at the Mayo Clinic.
This development comes after Lisa completed her final round of chemotherapy treatments earlier this year. Pavin shared that they discovered a couple of months prior that her cancer had "never went away completely."
"Over the last two months and after multiple visits to The Mayo Clinic, Lisa is getting her CAR-T infusion today," Pavin wrote. "We are hoping and praying that this will kick her cancer’s a–!"
Pavin expressed gratitude towards the medical staff at the Mayo Clinic for their care and empathy. He also thanked Lisa's friends for their unwavering support and prayers during this challenging time.
While the specific type of cancer Lisa Pavin is battling has not been disclosed, the couple remains optimistic. Pavin has also continued to participate in golf tournaments, including the Sanford International last month, even while supporting his wife through her treatment.
