A unique trading card of Dallas Mavericks star Cooper Flagg, featuring his autograph and an embedded NBA Debut Patch from his first game, has become a focal point in the collectibles market, attracting multimillion-dollar offers and a wave of public attention.

Jason Williams, a 50-year-old resident of Clover, South Carolina, purchased a spot in a trading card "break" for $515, a popular practice where participants buy into a live-streamed opening of trading card boxes and receive cards based on assigned players or teams. During the livestream conducted by Rhode Island-based RhodyBreakers, Williams's spot yielded the coveted one-of-one Cooper Flagg NBA Debut Patch Auto redemption card.

"When it happened, I mean, I went to the floor like a baby in the fetal position," Williams told CNN, describing the emotional moment the significance of the card registered. "It was just emotions took over me."

This particular card is considered a "unicorn" in the trading card hobby. Christopher Card, a breaker with RhodyCards, noted that while their typical "big pull" might be $15,000 to $20,000, this card is "one of the most anticipated cards in modern card history."

The Dallas Mavericks have made a substantial offer to acquire the card directly from Williams, which includes 32 years of season tickets, signed merchandise, a meet-and-greet, and a tour of the team facility. Additionally, an "bounty auction" initiated by auction platform Alt has seen 12 bids, pushing the total to $3.1 million as of Sunday afternoon. This figure aligns with expectations, as similar high-value collectibles have fetched significant sums, such as a one-of-one dual gold logoman of Shohei Ohtani that sold for $10 million and a Paul Skenes card that sold for $1.11 million in 2025.

Despite the immense financial offers, Williams has stated he is not considering selling the card at this time. He emphasized his desire to focus on the experiences the card might afford him and his family. "Right now, I’m not even looking at the money," Williams said. "For me, I am looking forward to the experiences that I’m gonna get out of this and the things that my family and my kids are going to get to experience that are memories for a lifetime."

Flagg himself, who recently earned Rookie of the Year honors, has advised the collector to hold onto the card, believing it will increase in value as his career progresses.

Williams confirmed that the card is currently in a secure location while he contemplates his next steps, seemingly echoing Flagg's sentiment to preserve the collectible for potential future appreciation and memorable experiences.
