Colts Trade Quenton Nelson to Seahawks Amidst Post-GM Fire Sale
Indianapolis sends eight-time Pro Bowl guard to Seattle for draft picks, signaling a potential rebuild after GM dismissal.
The Indianapolis Colts have agreed to trade guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks, marking a significant move just over a week after the team fired general manager Chris Ballard. This trade could be the beginning of a broader player exodus as the Colts appear to be entering a rebuilding phase.
In exchange for the eight-time Pro Bowl selection, the Seahawks will send a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round selection to Indianapolis. Nelson, 30, was set to become a free agent after the current season.
The move follows the recent dismissal of Chris Ballard by Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon. With an eye toward acquiring future draft capital, other prominent Colts players, such as star running back Jonathan Taylor and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, may also be available for trade.
This trade caps a strong period for the Seahawks, whose team, under coach Mike Macdonald, recently secured a decisive 20-3 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
