Cole Palmer Signs Contract Extension With Chelsea Until 2034
The England international's new deal reflects his significant impact since joining the club.
Cole Palmer has signed a new contract with Chelsea, extending his stay at the club until 2034. The agreement includes improved terms and signifies the club's commitment to the 24-year-old England international, who has become a key attacking player since his arrival.
Palmer's previous contract was set to run until 2033, but his performances have led to this updated long-term deal. He joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2023 for a reported fee of £42.5 million. The new contract places him among a select group of Premier League players with deals extending to 2034, including Manchester City's Erling Haaland and Chelsea teammates Joao Pedro and Geovany Quenda.
This contract renewal is part of Chelsea's broader strategy to secure its established and emerging talent while managing the club's wage structure. Earlier this year, Joao Pedro also signed a contract extending until 2034, and Pedro Neto signed a six-year deal last month.
Palmer has demonstrated a strong on-field connection with teammates, including Brazil forward Joao Pedro and Morgan Rogers. He was reportedly involved in discussions surrounding Chelsea's acquisition of Rogers from Aston Villa for a club-record £117 million.
This season, Palmer has recorded four goals and two assists in seven matches. This return to form follows a period of recovery from a groin issue that affected him last season, during which he admitted to playing despite discomfort. That injury contributed to his omission from England's World Cup squad over the summer.
Manager Xabi Alonso confirmed that Palmer is expected to be available for an upcoming match against Bournemouth and emphasized his commitment to playing for England. Alonso stated that Palmer has been feeling better after training and that the club and national team need him when fully fit. Chelsea currently sits 10th in the league table after five matches.
