Flavio Cobolli has advanced to the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the second year in a row after defeating Alex de Minaur. Cobolli secured his place in the last eight with a 7-5, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 victory over the Australian.
Cobolli, the ninth seed, had a limited grass-court preparation for Wimbledon, with only one singles match prior to the tournament, a straight-sets loss to Frances Tiafoe. He reached the French Open final in June.
Following his win, Cobolli humorously commented on his accommodation situation, stating that his grandfather had helped him find a place to stay in south-west London. "Maybe you guys have a house here in Wimbledon?" he asked reporters.
"We have our luggage at the old house and now we have to find [a new] one," Cobolli said when asked about his recovery plans. He also mentioned looking forward to enjoying ice cream and his father cooking pasta with tomato and onion. He expressed interest in watching the World Cup matches between Spain and Portugal.
