French referee Clément Turpin has been appointed as the head official for the World Cup quarterfinal match between England and Norway, scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 11, at Miami Stadium.

Turpin is an experienced UEFA referee who has officiated numerous high-profile matches, including the 2022 Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool. His resume also includes several French domestic finals, a Europa League final, European Championship games, and World Cup qualification playoffs.

This marks Turpin's third World Cup appearance and his fourth assignment of the current tournament. He has previously overseen matches such as England vs. Croatia, Paraguay vs. Australia, and Colombia vs. Ghana in the round of 32. The upcoming quarterfinal will be the highest-stakes World Cup match he has officiated to date, surpassing his previous assignment of a round of 16 game in 2022 between Brazil and South Korea.

Assisting Turpin will be his compatriots Nicolas Danos and Benjamin Pagès, while Alejandro Hernández Hernández of Spain will serve as the fourth official.

England advanced to the quarterfinals after a 3-2 victory over Mexico, overcoming the challenges of playing at altitude and in a hostile environment. They also secured a come-from-behind win against DR Congo in the round of 32, with Harry Kane scoring twice late in the match. Norway reached the final eight by defeating Ivory Coast and then stunning Brazil in the round of 16, with Erling Haaland scoring braces in both games.
