Clark's Career-Worst Game as Fever Lose Regular Season Finale
The Indiana Fever fell to the Minnesota Lynx 86-66, impacting playoff seeding and marking a difficult performance for Caitlin Clark.
Caitlin Clark recorded a career-low performance in points as the Indiana Fever concluded their regular season with an 86-66 loss to the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx on Thursday night. The defeat also affected the Fever's playoff seeding.
Clark was held to two points on 1-of-12 shooting from the field in 18 minutes. She also registered three assists and four rebounds. The Lynx established a commanding 62-32 lead by halftime. Indiana's defeat was compounded by the absence of starting center Aliyah Boston, who was sidelined with a right lower leg injury. Guard Ty Harris also left the game injured.
Despite the challenging game for Clark, Kelsey Mitchell set a new WNBA single-season record for three-pointers, surpassing Rhyne Howard with her 135th made three-pointer of the season. Mitchell led the Fever with 10 points, ending her streak of 27 consecutive games with 20 or more points. The Fever finished the regular season with a 28-15 record.
With this loss, the Indiana Fever are now set to face the defending champion Las Vegas Aces, led by MVP frontrunner A'ja Wilson, in the postseason. A victory in Thursday's game could have positioned them to play the Atlanta Dream.
Earlier in the week, the Fever had secured a significant victory over the Lynx at home, at one point handing Minnesota its largest deficit of the season. However, the momentum did not carry over into the finale.
