Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s season encountered another setback Tuesday night at Camden Yards when a ground ball hit his way resulted in a fielding error, leading to frustration directed at home plate umpire Ryan Additon. The incident occurred in the bottom of the second inning with runners on first and second and one out.

Carlos Rodón of the Yankees induced a ground ball from the Orioles' Christian Franklin towards Chisholm at second base. However, the play was complicated when Additon appeared to momentarily obstruct Chisholm’s view of the ball. This prevented Chisholm from cleanly handling the grounder, which could have resulted in an inning-ending double play.

Instead, the error allowed all three runners to advance, loading the bases. Chisholm was visibly upset with Additon, expressing his belief that the umpire did not move out of the way quickly enough. No other players on the field disputed the call with Additon.

Rodón managed to limit the damage, stranding all three runners by striking out Carlos Narváez and Jackson Holliday, thus preserving a one-run lead. Chisholm has experienced a difficult season overall, marked by struggles both offensively and defensively as he approaches free agency.
