The Kansas City Chiefs have re-signed defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah, a Super Bowl winner with the team, on a one-year contract. Ogbah, 32, returns to Kansas City after spending the 2025 season with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Ogbah was part of the Chiefs team in the 2019 season, playing alongside quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce. He helped the team reach the postseason that year but missed their playoff run to the Super Bowl due to a torn pectoral injury. Between his tenures in Kansas City and Jacksonville, Ogbah played five seasons with the Miami Dolphins. He was originally a second-round draft pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2016.
The Chiefs are looking to rebound after a disappointing 2025 season, during which they missed the playoffs for the first time since 2014. Head coach Andy Reid and General Manager Brett Veach have been active in the offseason, also re-signing Travis Kelce and acquiring running back Kenneth Walker. The team also made moves at quarterback, drafting Garrett Nussmeier and trading for Justin Fields.
Reid, who signed a five-year, $100 million contract extension in April 2024, indicated that he is not currently focused on finding a successor for Mahomes. "I don't worry about it because he'll be here a lot longer than I am," Reid stated regarding the team's long-term quarterback situation.
