Celtic manager Martin O'Neill has revealed that Colombian forward Camilo Duran is on the verge of becoming the club's first summer acquisition. The 24-year-old is reportedly set to join the Scottish club for a fee around £6 million after a successful 2025-26 season with Qarabag, where he scored five goals in the Champions League.

Duran spent the majority of his senior career in Portugal before his move to Azerbaijan last year. He developed through the youth system at Independiente Medellin in his native Colombia.

"I think at this minute Duran will be coming in," O'Neill stated in a club interview prior to Celtic's first pre-season friendly against Shelbourne. "He’s doing a medical, I think, just as we speak. If he’s not doing it tonight, he’ll be doing it tomorrow morning, and hopefully he’ll join us in Portugal (for the upcoming training camp)."

The manager anticipates an increase in transfer activity in the coming weeks. This follows veteran midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's recent agreement to extend his contract with Celtic for the upcoming season. "We have a number of players that we’re looking at," O'Neill said. "We’ve had a number of offers in for players as well too at the same time. And I’m hoping in the not-too-distant future, and I mean maybe in the next couple of weeks, that we will have some really decent players at the football club to add to the very decent players we have at the football club."
