New Orleans Saints defensive end Cam Jordan's hamstring injury could pose a challenge through the start of the regular season, according to coach Kellen Moore. Moore stated Tuesday that the team will "take time and kind of evaluate where Cam’s at and see how it looks here through training camp."

The injury occurred last Thursday, prior to Jordan traveling to Canton, Ohio, for his former teammate Drew Brees' Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony over the weekend. Jordan has a history of durability, having missed only two of his 245 career regular-season games since being drafted by the Saints in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft.

Jordan agreed to a one-year contract as a free agent this past offseason, expressing a desire to remain with the Saints for his entire career. While he has acknowledged that this season could be his last, he has not ruled out playing beyond 2026 if he remains healthy, effective, and a team expresses interest.

Moore indicated that the Saints' training staff plans to approach Jordan's injury with patience, allowing it to heal naturally while gathering more information. Last season, Jordan started all 17 games and led the team with 10.5 sacks. However, he played just over half of the team's defensive snaps, a notable decrease from the majority of his career snaps, which have typically ranged from 70% to as high as 93% in previous seasons.

The Saints have multiple players competing for playing time at the defensive end position, including Chase Young, Carl Granderson, Anfernee Jennings, Tyree Wilson, and Fadil Diggs. "We certainly feel good about our depth at that position," Moore said. "We've got some really talented players on the edge and view that as a strength of our football team. We're going to need multiple guys to play throughout the season no matter what."

Separately, veteran defensive tackle Davon Godchaux sustained an ankle injury during practice, though Moore stated he was awaiting further details on its severity.
