Caleb Williams to Return as Chicago Bears Quarterback After Hamstring Injury
The Bears' starting quarterback will start against the Atlanta Falcons after missing three games.
Caleb Williams is slated to return as the starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, barring any issues during pregame warmups. Williams has been sidelined for the past three games with a hamstring injury.
Williams sustained the injury on September 20 against the Minnesota Vikings. He was seen grabbing the back of his leg and was carted off the field. The quarterback completed a full week of practice without setbacks but expressed uncertainty on Thursday about his starting status. He described the injury as "pretty serious" but did not disclose its specific grade.
The Bears managed a 2-1 record in Williams' absence. Case Keenum started in Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles, a game the Bears won 27-7. The following week, Tyson Bagent started against the New York Jets, securing a 23-12 victory for Chicago. However, in Week 5, the Bears fell to the Green Bay Packers 31-7, with Bagent starting and Keenum entering the game in the fourth quarter.
With a 3-2 record, the Bears are currently tied for second place in the NFC North, alongside the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers. The Minnesota Vikings lead the division with a 5-0 record. The team hopes Williams' return will help them close the gap in the standings.
