Caitlin Clark Vomited at Halftime in Playoff Game
WNBA star Caitlin Clark revealed she vomited at halftime during the Indiana Fever's playoff victory over the Las Vegas Aces, attributing it to drinking too much water.
Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark disclosed that she vomited during halftime of her team's playoff game against the Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday night. Clark, who has experienced similar incidents during games, explained in her post-game press conference that she sometimes drinks too much water when tired.
"Yeah, that is gross. I think I was just really tired and sometimes I drink too much water," Clark said. "Not to be gross back, but it was an incredible amount of throw up. Sorry to anybody that was in the vicinity of that trash can."
This marks the second time this season Clark has had to leave the court to vomit. She experienced a similar episode in June during a game against the Atlanta Dream, after which she returned to the court and performed well.
Despite the halftime incident, Clark played through the game, contributing 27 points and 15 assists to the Fever's 99-89 victory over the defending WNBA champions. The win evened the best-of-three playoff series at 1-1, with Game 3 scheduled for Thursday in Las Vegas. Clark achieved a significant milestone in the first half, becoming the first player in WNBA playoff history to record a points-assists double-double before halftime, with 14 points and 11 assists.
Fever coach Stephanie White praised Clark's performance, noting her energy and effectiveness on both ends of the court. "I thought her energy from start to finish - I mean a double-double in the first half - was pretty incredible," White stated. "The way she moved the ball, attacked from multiple positions. You always expect to be able to make shots and facilitate. But I thought how she managed the game was really good and her defensive energy I thought was terrific. It's what we need from her."
Clark's performance was notable, but the game was also marked by a fourth-quarter confrontation between Aces player A'ja Wilson and a fan. The incident led to Wilson receiving a technical foul for stepping off the court, though she was not ejected. The fan was initially escorted out by security but was permitted to return after the Fever determined no fan code of conduct violation had occurred.
