Caitlin Clark is currently in a dominant scoring stretch, averaging 30.3 points over her last four games, a period during which the Indiana Fever has secured four consecutive victories. Her recent offensive surge includes a 32-point performance in a road win against the Seattle Storm on Tuesday, contributing to the team's 18-10 record.
This hot streak began on July 17 against the Storm, where Clark set a career high with 45 points, shooting 11-of-18 from the field and 6-of-10 from three-point range. This followed a less productive game where she shot 4-of-14 in a loss to the Valkyries. Clark expressed confidence in her performance, telling reporters after the 45-point game, "Some nights, like, you know you have it – even before the ball tips." She added, "I feel like you just have to believe you’re going to have those type of nights, and you have to visualize having those types of nights."
Following the 45-point outing, Clark scored 17 points against the Liberty on July 18. She then contributed 27 points, including five three-pointers, in a decisive 123-88 victory over the Sun on July 22. Clark also participated in the WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday, where she recorded 17 points in 21 minutes, calling the experience "really special" and "unique."
Despite Clark's on-court success, she has been involved in several off-court incidents. In June, she took a shot to the throat against the Mercury, and a foul was not called, a decision Fever head coach Stephanie White described as "egregious." NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has commented on the wider situation, referring to the scrutiny surrounding Clark as a "political football" used for various agendas both within and outside of the sport.
