BYU Holds Off Arizona State Rally to Remain Undefeated at Home

No. 8 BYU weathered a second-half comeback from Arizona State, ultimately securing a 27-20 victory to maintain their undefeated home record. The Cougars extended their lead to 17-3 in the first half, but the Sun Devils rallied to tie the game at 17 late in the third quarter before BYU regained control.

BYU quarterback Bear Bachmeier contributed 236 passing yards and one touchdown to the win. The Cougars' defense shut out Arizona State in the fourth quarter. A 45-yard field goal put BYU ahead for good, and running back Sione Moa sealed the victory with a 1-yard touchdown run in the final minutes.

Arizona State quarterback Jake Fette finished with 166 yards and two touchdowns. The loss marked the Sun Devils' third road defeat against a top-10 opponent this season. Fette threw two touchdown passes in the third quarter, erasing the 14-point deficit. Omarion Miller’s 20-yard touchdown reception and Anthony Miller Jr.’s 1-yard scoring reception tied the game.

Early in the game, both teams struggled with turnovers. Fette fumbled on Arizona State’s opening drive, leading to BYU’s first touchdown. Moments later, Bachmeier fumbled near the goal line, but Moa recovered the ball and scored, giving BYU a 7-0 lead. Adrian Wilson recovered a fumble from BYU's Kyler Kasper, setting up Arizona State's initial scoring drive.

BYU will face Utah next week in Salt Lake City, while Arizona State hosts Colorado. Earlier on Saturday, Colorado defeated Kansas State in overtime.
