Bruno Fernandes Sidelined for Portugal's Nations League Clash Due to 'Complicated Problem'

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been ruled out of Portugal's Nations League match against Norway on Sunday due to a "complicated problem." The 32-year-old midfielder was substituted late in Portugal's 1-0 victory over Wales on Thursday.

Portugal manager Jorge Jesus confirmed Fernandes's absence from the Oslo match, stating that the player has been dealing with pain for approximately three games. "He said he’s been dealing with that pain for about three games, and that was one of the factors that prevented him from being at his usual level against Wales," Jesus said. "He was my player, I know him perfectly. I’ve already spoken to him. I prefer not to risk him in this game and have him clean and in good physical condition for the Denmark game."

Fernandes has played every minute of Manchester United's five Premier League matches this season, as well as their Champions League win against Sabah. He was also brought on as a substitute in the Carabao Cup tie against Brighton.

Manchester United returns to action on Saturday, October 10, at home against Tottenham. The team has had a challenging start to the season under manager Michael Carrick, with their only Premier League win being a 5-2 victory against Ipswich, in which Fernandes scored a hat-trick.
