Brothers Brayden and Luke Schenn Cherish Rare Matchups

For veteran NHL brothers Brayden and Luke Schenn, the novelty of playing against each other has long since faded, but the appreciation for these matchups has only grown. With combined careers spanning nearly 40 years and over 2,200 NHL games, the brothers have faced off 21 times in the regular season and seven times in the playoffs.

Despite the familiarity, they make a conscious effort to savor these encounters, recognizing that such opportunities are finite. "You know these games don’t last forever, especially Eastern-Western Conference, there’s not as many of them anymore," Brayden said before his New York Islanders faced Luke’s Vancouver Canucks. "And this is a chance for us to just appreciate the moments."

Their father, Jeff Schenn, traveled to Long Island to witness one of these games. Their mother, Rita, was unable to attend as she is still recovering from eye surgery.
