Brooks Koepka described his performance in his first season back on the PGA Tour as "pathetic" after missing the FedEx Cup playoffs. His T68 finish at the Wyndham Championship in North Carolina on Sunday left him outside the top-70 in the FedEx Cup standings, the threshold for qualifying for the postseason.
"Yeah, pretty disappointed," Koepka told reporters following the tournament. "I think it’s pretty pathetic that I can’t get through. Zero top-10s basically in two years. To be in the prime of your career and be as good as I think I am, I think that’s very pathetic, disappointing. Just need to go home and completely reevaluate everything."
Koepka made 10 of 15 cuts during his return to the PGA Tour, which began in January. He secured six top-25 finishes, with his best result being a tie for ninth at the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches in March. This marked his only top-10 finish in 15 starts this year.
Despite his personal performance struggles, Koepka stated he has been happy with his decision to rejoin the PGA Tour and intends to play in several DP World Tour events later in the year. "It’s been great," he said. "Honestly, I’ve loved it. I feel fantastic. The reception’s been great. Overall happiness is 10 out of 10 and just excited."
Koepka was the most prominent golfer to leave LIV Golf and return to the PGA Tour through the Returning Member Program. As part of this agreement, he forfeited any player equity shares for the next five years, was ineligible for this season's $100 million FedEx Cup bonus program, and committed to donating $5 million to charity.
His move back to the PGA Tour generated significant attention in the golf world, sparking speculation about whether other major names would follow. Koepka was the sole golfer to utilize the Returning Member Program.
