Brighton Boss Questions Liverpool's Intent After Anfield Loss

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler expressed bewilderment at Liverpool's approach following his team's 2-0 defeat at Anfield. Hurzeler stated that only one team at the stadium was genuinely attempting to create chances and secure a victory.

A Pascal Gross own goal and Alexander Isak's sixth goal of the season sealed the win for Liverpool, extending their winning streak to four matches and propelling them into the top four. However, Brighton had a significant opportunity to take the lead when Yasin Ayari missed a clear chance with the score at 0-0.

"Everyone in the stadium saw that there was one team who really tried to create and try to win this game and therefore I have to praise my players," Hurzeler remarked. He added that his team had "one, two big chances" before Liverpool scored and felt the difference was simply that Liverpool converted their opportunities while Brighton did not.

Despite the loss, Hurzeler praised his players for their belief in their strategy and their persistence throughout the match. "Overall I saw a team with a lot of good things to take away. I saw a team that really had the belief in our approach, that stuck to the match plan, that always kept going, and that is very frustrating because we all have the feeling that there is a missed opportunity here today," he said.

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola, meanwhile, lauded goal-scorer Isak, noting his effectiveness when provided with good service. Iraola also highlighted the defensive performance of right-back Ronald Araujo, praising his dueling ability and contribution to the team's defensive solidity.
