Brie Bella sustained what appeared to be a shoulder injury during a six-woman tag team match at WWE SummerSlam on Saturday, with her sister Nikki Bella later confirming she is experiencing significant pain.
During the match, Brie Bella was seen clutching her right shoulder after her opponent, Jacy Jayne, performed a running senton. She continued to hold her shoulder throughout the remainder of the contest.
WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque addressed the injury after the event, stating, "She’s injured. I don’t have an update yet. We’ve taken her. She was here, got some treatment done here, has been taken to the hospital to get some scans done. Don’t have a clean answer on it yet. I know she hurt her shoulder. It seems pretty bad."
Nikki Bella, who was also participating in the match alongside Paige, provided an update on Sunday. "She’s doing OK. She is in a lot of pain," Nikki Bella said in an interview on Busted Open Radio. "They are still determining what’s going on. Brie will share that whenever. … I’ve been told to ‘zip it.’"
Brie Bella had made her return to WWE at the Royal Rumble in January. She was originally slated to team with her sister at WrestleMania 42, but Nikki Bella sustained an injury. Brie Bella then teamed with Paige, and the duo won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.
The extent of Brie Bella's current injury and her potential return to the ring remain uncertain.
