WWE star Brie Bella will be sidelined for an undisclosed period after suffering a broken scapula during her six-woman tag team match at SummerSlam over the weekend. Bella announced the injury on her Instagram account Monday, expressing gratitude for fan support.

"Unfortunately I’ll be out for a bit. I broke my scapula," Bella wrote in her post. "If there’s one thing I know about my sister and I is that we don’t let broken bones stop us. Not sure how I finished that match, but I do believe between the adrenaline, passion for the business and the love for all the women I work with, it gave me the drive to finish."

Bella appeared to sustain the injury after being hit with a running senton by opponent Jacy Jayne. She was seated near the steel steps when the move occurred, and she was seen clutching her shoulder throughout the remainder of the match, which also featured her sister Nikki Bella and Paige on her team.

WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque commented on the injury after the event, stating it "seems pretty bad." He confirmed Bella received immediate treatment and was taken to the hospital for scans.

Bella made a return to WWE at the Royal Rumble in January. She was initially slated to team with her sister Nikki Bella at WrestleMania 42, but Nikki Bella also sustained an injury. Brie Bella then teamed with Paige, and the duo won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Now, with Brie sidelined, Nikki Bella is focusing on singles competition.
