The Minnesota Vikings have signed right tackle Brian O'Neill to a four-year contract extension worth up to $96 million, keeping him with the team through the 2030 season. The deal addresses a key position on the offensive line, offering a measure of stability as the Vikings navigate potential uncertainty at the quarterback position heading into 2026.
O'Neill, who was entering the final year of his previous rookie extension, has been a full-time starter since his debut season in 2018. Initial contract discussions began earlier in the offseason but were paused during an interim general manager's tenure. Following the hiring of Nolan Teasley as the full-time general manager, extension talks resumed, culminating in the Tuesday agreement.
"He's somebody that's poured in everything since I've been here and a long time before that," Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell stated. "And this organization means so much to him, our fans, our ownership… I know Brian is going to go out there and have the best year yet with the type of offseason he's had, and his excitement about what we're doing offensively and where we take it from here."
O'Neill and left tackle Christian Darrisaw have formed a consistent tackle pairing in recent seasons. According to Pro Football Focus, O'Neill allowed 21 pressures in pass protection and surrendered two sacks last season. Despite his consistent performance and two Pro Bowl selections, O'Neill has experienced injury concerns, playing in only three full seasons and missing three games last year due to heel and knee issues.
