Brewers, Padres Set for Pivotal NLDS Game 3 with Over/Under and Player Prop Bets

The Milwaukee Brewers lead the San Diego Padres 2-0 in their National League Division Series matchup. Game 3 is set to feature Dustin May on the mound for the Brewers against Nick Pivetta of the Padres. Betting markets favor an over/under of 7 runs for the game.

The Brewers have shown resilience in the postseason thus far, carrying their regular-season success into the playoffs. After winning the first two games at home, Milwaukee now heads to San Diego.

Dustin May is slated to start for the Brewers. In the regular season, May posted a 7-9 record with a 4.70 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP. His performance was notably weaker on the road, where he recorded a 5.88 ERA. Despite this, he had success against the Padres in two regular-season starts, pitching 15 innings and allowing only two earned runs.

The Padres have expressed frustration with the outcomes of the first two games. In Game 1, they held an early lead but saw it evaporate. A controversial home run ruling in the ninth inning also played a role in their loss. In Game 2, their closer, Mason Miller, struggled, walking three batters and allowing a go-ahead hit, ultimately leading to a Brewers victory.

Nick Pivetta will attempt to keep the Padres' season alive. He finished the regular season with a 3-2 record, a 2.86 ERA, and a 1.01 WHIP. In his lone postseason start, Pivetta pitched 3.1 innings, allowing one run on three hits and two walks. Brewers hitters have a career .304 batting average against him in 69 at-bats.

Christian Yelich is highlighted as a player to watch for prop bets, given his career statistics against Pivetta. Yelich is 7-for-18 against Pivetta with four extra-base hits. He is also a focus for a bet on him to achieve 2 or more total bases.

Despite May's road struggles, betting leans towards the over 7 runs and a Padres victory at home. San Diego had a strong home record in the regular season, going 53-30.
