Brewers Aim to Complete NLCS Sweep Against Dodgers

The Milwaukee Brewers have established a stunning 3-0 stranglehold on the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series, putting them in position to potentially end a 44-year World Series drought.

Milwaukee can also achieve a unique historical feat by becoming the first team to sweep an opponent in the year after being swept by that same team. The Brewers' success has come despite the Dodgers' significant roster spending advantage of $193.1 million.

The Brewers have demonstrated superiority across all facets of the game in the series. Their plate discipline has put pressure on the Dodgers' pitching staff, leading to prolonged at-bats and an advantage in capitalizing on mistakes. Milwaukee has drawn 13 walks in the series and holds a .458 slugging percentage compared to the Dodgers' .187.

Manager Pat Murphy's strategic use of the Brewers' pitching staff has resulted in a postseason-best 1.74 ERA. The team's collective execution by its role players has overshadowed the Dodgers' financial might and market size.

To complete the sweep, the Brewers must overcome Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow. Glasnow has a 1.73 ERA in 26 career postseason innings and has been part of a team that is 7-0 in his starts. However, command has been an issue for Glasnow since his return from a back injury on Aug. 25, as he posted a 4.15 ERA in 39 innings with a dipping Stuff+ metric.

The Brewers plan to counter with rookie left-hander Shane Drohan, who has not pitched since Sept. 27, and potentially Dustin May for extended innings. Despite this, Milwaukee's bullpen has been highly effective, allowing just one earned run over 28 ⅔ innings in the postseason.

The Dodgers' offense has struggled significantly in the series, batting .165 with a .187 slugging percentage. Shohei Ohtani, who has endured injuries, is batting .182 in the postseason with no home runs since August 18.

Oddsmakers anticipate a potential Dodgers response, but the Brewers are favored to win Game 4 at +130. The prediction favors the Brewers to complete the sweep.
