Braves Even NLDS Against Dodgers in Tense Game 2 Victory

The Atlanta Braves leveled their National League Division Series matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers at one game apiece with a narrow 3-2 victory in Game 2. The win, secured through a combination of strategic pitching and capitalizing on Dodgers' mistakes, shifts the momentum and home-field advantage back to Atlanta for Game 3.

The Dodgers' best-laid plans for Game 2 unraveled from the outset, forcing them into an unexpected bullpen game that mirrored the Braves' initial strategy. Starter Blake Snell struggled with command, issuing five walks and failing to complete four innings. The lengthy outing put a significant strain on the Dodgers' relief corps, who were called upon for a substantial workload throughout the game.

Atlanta opened the scoring in the first inning after loading the bases on a Ronald Acuña Jr. single and two Snell walks. Mauricio Dubón's infield single brought home the first run, though Snell managed to limit further damage on a high pitch count.

The Braves' bullpen strategy, which involved starting pitcher Ray Kerr, proved effective. Kerr, who had delivered a strong performance in a previous wild-card game, provided unexpected length, working into the third inning without allowing a run. Though the Dodgers managed to load the bases in the third after a leadoff double, they failed to capitalize.

Los Angeles briefly tied the game in the fourth inning when Freddie Freeman hit a solo home run. However, the lead was short-lived. In the fifth inning, a misplayed fly ball by Teoscar Hernández turned into a triple for Michael Harris II, who then scored on a wild pitch by reliever Kris Bubic, giving the Braves a 2-1 advantage.

Despite the bullpen efforts from both sides, the Dodgers' offense struggled, finishing 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position and leaving seven runners on base. Max Muncy's two-out home run in the bottom of the ninth brought the Dodgers within one run, but Atlanta closer Raisel Iglesias secured the final out to seal the victory.

The Braves extended their lead in the seventh inning on an RBI double by Harris off reliever Edgardo Henriquez, providing a cushion that ultimately proved decisive. The win ensures the series returns to Atlanta tied 1-1, with the Dodgers no longer holding a clear pitching advantage and having squandered their home-field edge.
