Bo Nix Dismisses 'Good' or 'Bad' Quarterback Narrative

Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix stated that the idea of playing "good" or playing "bad" is a subjective narrative that he and the team create. Nix, whose completion percentage and passer rating are currently career lows, expressed confidence in his preparation, coaching, and the offensive strategy.

Through the first five games of the season, Nix has recorded 942 passing yards, six touchdowns, and three interceptions, with a 59.9% completion rate and an 80.8 passer rating. This contrasts with his previous seasons, where in 2025 he achieved 3,931 passing yards, a 63.4% completion rate, and an 87.8 passer rating, and in 2024 he threw for 29 touchdowns with a 93.3 passer rating.

Despite the statistical comparisons, Nix maintains that he is not playing differently than he normally does and views the season as a mental challenge. The Broncos currently hold a 3-2 record. The team's offense ranks low in several NFL categories, including 30th in total yards per game (269.0), 26th in points per game (19.4), and 25th in both passing and rushing yards. This season, head coach Sean Payton has resumed offensive playcalling duties from offensive coordinator Davis Webb.

Last season, the Broncos' offense was more productive, ranking 10th in total yards and 14th in points. The defense also showed strong performance, leading the league in sacks and ranking highly in opponent yards and points allowed. This season, the Broncos' defense has seen a regression in some areas, ranking 29th in opponent rushing yards and 22nd in opponent total yards.

Nix acknowledged a tendency to overanalyze situations, stating that wanting to have all the answers can hinder his performance. He emphasized the need to simply "play the play" rather than being preoccupied with potential mistakes like interceptions. The Broncos are preparing for a Thursday night home game against the Seattle Seahawks.
