Running back Bijan Robinson has finalized a three-year contract extension with the Atlanta Falcons, worth up to $75 million and including $51 million in guaranteed money. The deal, announced Tuesday, makes Robinson the highest-paid running back in the NFL and concludes a period of contract negotiations that saw him participate in training camp while withholding services from team drills. He had been "holding in" as he pushed for a new agreement after outperforming his rookie contract.

Robinson, 24, has been a standout performer since entering the league. He has surpassed 1,400 rushing yards in each of his first two seasons and emerged as a significant receiving threat in 2025, catching 79 passes for 820 yards. His new deal follows other substantial extensions for the Falcons, including receiver Drake London's four-year, $141.05 million contract and Kyle Pitts' three-year, $54 million agreement.

The Falcons' recent contract activity aims to secure their core skill position players. However, the team faces ongoing questions at quarterback. Tua Tagovailoa joined the team this offseason, while Michael Penix Jr., their No. 8 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, has not yet been cleared for contact after sustaining his third ACL tear.

The Falcons are scheduled to begin their preseason 10 days from now when they host the Denver Broncos. Their regular season opener is on September 13 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
