New York City FC forward Bénie Traoré, at 23 years old, is no stranger to relocation, having played for clubs in Sweden, England, France, and Switzerland. Now, he has joined NYCFC as a designated player during the World Cup break.

Traoré, an Ivory Coast international, has found a taste of home in New York City, noting the availability of his country's cuisine. Despite his extensive travels, Traoré described himself as someone who "doesn't go out a lot" and prefers to focus on his football. The club recently took him to SUMMIT One Vanderbilt for a promotional shoot, but his priority remains settling in with the team.

NYCFC is entering a demanding part of its schedule, with upcoming Leagues Cup matches against Santos Laguna and Cruz Azul, followed by another match on August 13 before returning to MLS regular-season play. Traoré has played in all three matches since the World Cup break concluded but has yet to score.

"The first goal is coming soon," Traoré stated. Sporting director Todd Dunivant expressed satisfaction with Traoré's initial contributions, highlighting his vision, playmaking ability, and potential for both goals and assists. Dunivant mentioned that the club had pursued Traoré during the winter transfer window and is excited about his integration into the team, emphasizing a long-term development approach.

Traoré was drawn to NYCFC's project, seeing it as an opportunity to make a significant impact. As the club enters its 11th season, Traoré aims to carve out a place in its history.
