Ben Simmons has further fueled speculation about a potential return to the Philadelphia 76ers by posting a photo of LeBron James' signature sneakers on social media. The post, which featured the basketball shoes of the NBA legend who recently signed with the 76ers, has ignited discussions among fans and media.

Simmons, who was drafted No. 1 overall by the 76ers in 2016, had a tumultuous tenure with the team. Despite an impressive start to his career, averaging at least 15.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 7.7 assists per game in his first three seasons and earning two First-Team All-Defense selections, his time in Philadelphia ended abruptly after a challenging playoff series in his fourth year. He was eventually traded to the Brooklyn Nets for James Harden.

During his tenure with the Nets, Simmons experienced what was described as a mental block, notably passing up open layups. He later expressed openness to returning to the NBA, even mentioning the Miami Heat as a potential destination, citing his admiration for their organization and coach Erik Spoelstra.

Earlier in June, Simmons had also commented on the possibility of returning to Philadelphia, suggesting he "maybe [will] go back to Philly" to attempt to revive his basketball career, which had also seen him explore professional fishing.

With LeBron James now joining the 76ers, the team is considered among the favorites for the NBA Finals, especially after acquiring Jaylen Brown. Simmons' recent social media activity, however, has shifted the focus back to his potential involvement with the franchise that drafted him.
