Jude Bellingham was involved in a heated confrontation with Ghana manager Carlos Queiroz at half-time of England's 0-0 draw with the African side in Boston. Queiroz, a former Manchester United assistant manager, accused the England playmaker of an "X-rated outburst" following a dispute that required intervention from both teams' staff.
The incident occurred as players headed to the tunnel after Bellingham committed a foul on Jerome Opoku just before the interval. Tempers flared, and Bellingham was seen exchanging heated words with opposition players and coaches.
Queiroz stated that Bellingham used "bad names" and that his "intention was to tell him to cool down with that tackle." The Ghana manager added, "In the middle of the emotional moment these things are normal. He swears and that created more tension."
Expert lip reader Nicola Hickling analyzed the exchange, suggesting that Ghana coach John Paintsil said, "F*** off mate, yeah," to Bellingham. Queiroz is then believed to have responded with, "Hey, hey... f*** you mate, f*** you." England assistant Anthony Barry and teammate Morgan Rogers were among those seen attempting to de-escalate the situation. Thomas Tuchel was also noted as telling someone to "Just go, get off now."
Bellingham himself downplayed the incident after the match, describing it as a "silly tackle." He explained, "I was trying to try to win the ball, and I followed for a little bit and caught the lad. I spoke to him after, and then their bench jumped up trying to get me a yellow card." He added that he recognized Queiroz from his time at Manchester United and expressed "great respect" for the competitive nature of the game.
The 0-0 draw was a frustrating result for England, who had struggled to break down a defensive Ghana side. Bellingham was substituted later in the match and, upon receiving a man of the match award, suggested it should have gone to a Ghana player.
