Miami Heat teammates Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro were involved in an altercation in Las Vegas on Friday, with Adebayo reportedly punching Herro in front of an audience of a Herro-led AAU basketball team. The incident took place at the gym inside Resorts World Casino.
According to reports, Adebayo began yelling at Herro before striking him. Security personnel then escorted Adebayo from the premises. It remains unclear which specific team was present on the court during the scuffle, though a coach reportedly confronted Adebayo during the altercation.
Both the Heat and the Milwaukee Bucks acknowledged awareness of the reported incident. Herro, recently acquired by the Bucks in a trade involving Giannis Antetokounmpo, was in attendance for a Summer League game between the two teams.
Prior to the incident becoming public, Herro commented on his departure from Miami, stating that there was "all love" and that he was happy for the opportunity for both sides to "reset" and get a fresh start. He expressed confidence in his abilities and his commitment to representing his new team.
Reports suggest that Herro's social media activity following the trade may have been a catalyst for the confrontation. Herro had previously shared a graphic highlighting low field-goal percentages on midrange shots, which included both Adebayo and Antetokounmpo. Leaked direct messages also allegedly showed Herro criticizing Adebayo's defensive skills.
Adebayo and Herro played together in Miami for seven seasons. The upcoming NBA regular season schedule is not yet released, but the first matchup between the Heat and the Bucks is anticipated to carry additional tension.
