Australian fans are facing exorbitant prices on the secondary market for tickets to the Socceroos' round of 32 World Cup match against Egypt. Some resale tickets are listed for up to $40,000 USD, with an additional 30 percent handling fee on top of the listed price, pushing the total cost for the most expensive options to $52,000.

Despite these staggering figures, this particular match is reported to be the least expensive among all round of 32 ties on the resale platforms. Tickets for matches involving the United States or Portugal are expected to command higher prices.

The Socceroos secured their place in the knockout stage by finishing second in Group D, following an opening win against Turikye, a loss to co-hosts America, and a draw with Paraguay. The uncertainty surrounding their qualification meant many fans had to scramble for travel and match tickets, leading to the surge in resale prices.

Fans attending the match in Arlington, Texas, will find various arrangements. The Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball have offered discounted tickets to traveling Australian fans. A designated meetup point, the Arlington Backyard, has been chosen for fans to gather before the game, with festivities expected to begin around 7 a.m. local time.

The Dallas stadium, where the match will be held, is located approximately 30 kilometers away in Arlington. A shorter, 200-meter march to the stadium gates has been organized for fans.

This tournament has been a significant experience for many supporters. "This World Cup has just been fantastic. It's been the time of our lives," said Green and Gold Army member Lawrie McKinna, reflecting on the fan marches in previous host cities. "A lot of us have come home now but we're still following the Socceroos all the way."

Historically, Australia and Egypt have met only twice in senior international football. Egypt defeated Australia 3-0 prior to the 2010 World Cup. Additionally, three Australian players are seeking retribution after being eliminated from the Olympics by Egypt.
