Australian Guard Luke Paul Commits to Duke for 2027 Recruiting Class

Duke head coach Jon Scheyer has secured a commitment from Australian point guard Luke Paul for the 2027 recruiting class, as first reported by ESPN. The 6-foot-6 guard is considered a top international prospect and a potential lottery pick in the 2028 NBA Draft.

Paul showcased his talent at the U17 FIBA World Cup in Turkey, where he averaged 15.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game for Team Australia. He also played for the Cairns Taipans.

Paul's commitment marks the second for Duke's 2027 class. He will join four-star forward Kager Knueppel, the younger brother of Charlotte Hornets guard K.J. McDaniels. Paul was named to the All-Tournament Team at the FIBA U17 World Cup, an event where future Duke teammate Joaquim Boumtje Boumtje earned MVP honors.

Scheyer, who has established Duke as a consistent power, is still seeking his first national championship since taking over the program. The addition of Paul and Knueppel, along with other top targets, increases the pressure on the team to contend for a championship.
