AT&T Stadium Named Most Haunted Sports Venue in North America
A new survey by The Sports Geek ranks the home of the Dallas Cowboys as the most haunted stadium, citing lore, age, and proximity to burial sites.
AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, has been identified as the most haunted sports venue in North America, according to a recent survey conducted by The Sports Geek. The stadium, which opened in 2009, surpassed older venues like Dodger Stadium and 112-year-old Wrigley Field to claim the top spot.
The survey evaluated 47 venues across the United States and Canada based on factors including their haunted lore, age, proximity to burial sites, and other paranormal attributes. Despite its relatively young age, AT&T Stadium's ranking was influenced by its location and reported incidents.
One former employee recounted tales of poltergeist-like activity in a kitchen area, a noticeable chill in a room named after coach Tom Landry, and unexplained sounds in unoccupied bathroom stalls. The stadium is also situated next to a graveyard, and a worker reportedly died in an accident during its construction, contributing to its haunted reputation.
While the survey highlights AT&T Stadium's paranormal claims, the article humorously notes that the stadium's spectral residents are unlikely to be the cause of the Dallas Cowboys' playoff struggles. The ranking suggests a shift in the types of reported hauntings, moving away from traditional specters like Civil War soldiers or early 20th-century widows.
