Sabalenka lost the women's singles final at Flushing Meadows to Elena Rybakina with a score of 6-4, 5-7, 6-2.

Following the match, Sabalenka was observed smashing her racket and expressing frustration towards a cameraman. She later described the incident as a struggle to control her emotions after losing a Grand Slam final, stating she wanted to "let it go" rather than hold the frustration internally.

She and Frangulis, whom she met in 2024, became engaged at Indian Wells earlier this year.
