Texas quarterback Arch Manning is positioned for a significant leap in the upcoming season after gaining valuable experience during his freshman year, according to NBC football analyst Chris Simms.
Manning, who faced immense pressure and public scrutiny due to his famous last name and high expectations, navigated his freshman season without making excuses or succumbing to criticism. Simms noted the early, often unrealistic, expectations placed on Manning before he had even played a game. "It adds more pressure to the situation, because the expectations are through the roof. He didn’t play a game and everybody’s like, ‘He’s the first pick of the draft next year,’" Simms told The Post. "It’s like, ‘Let’s see him throw a pass first, hold on.’ That was a little ridiculous."
Despite the initial hype, Manning reportedly demonstrated considerable growth, particularly in the second half of the season. After throwing for 1,846 yards and 14 touchdowns in his final seven games, Manning appears to be on track for a breakout sophomore season. In hindsight, the initial period of his collegiate career provided the necessary experience, and the upcoming season will serve as the true test of his development.
