Antonelli to Miss Mexico Media Day Amid Illness
While on the verge of clinching his first world title, Kimi Antonelli will be absent from Thursday's media events due to illness.
Kimi Antonelli will not attend the Mexico City Grand Prix media day on Thursday as he is unwell. This marks the second driver to miss the event due to illness, with Cadillac's Valtteri Bottas also withdrawing.
A Cadillac spokesperson stated that Bottas is "unwell" and the team has decided to give him a day of rest as a precautionary measure. His participation in the rest of the race weekend is not currently affected, and the team will monitor his condition.
Meanwhile, Cadillac recently announced a contract extension for Sergio Perez, keeping him with the team until at least 2029. The announcement did not include information about Bottas' future. Insiders suggest Cadillac is considering promoting American reserve driver Colton Herta to Formula 1.
Herta is scheduled to participate in Friday practice at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez as part of an effort to gain enough mileage for a super license, a requirement for F1 racing. Although Herta has had a challenging season in Formula 2, currently sitting 19th in the standings, Cadillac has observed potential in his F1 test outings. A decision regarding Bottas' or Herta's partnership with Perez in 2027 has not yet been made.
