Kimi Antonelli secured victory in the British Grand Prix sprint race at Silverstone, extending his lead in the drivers' standings and overshadowing home favorite Lewis Hamilton. Antonelli, the championship leader and teenage Italian driver who succeeded Hamilton at Mercedes, passed the seven-time world champion on the ninth lap of the 17-lap race.
Hamilton had started the sprint race on pole position and led for more than half of the event. The race saw Antonelli soar past Hamilton to claim the win, spoiling the home crowd's expectations at Silverstone.
