The Los Angeles Angels have traded pitcher Chase Silseth and catcher Logan O’Hoppe to the Texas Rangers for minor league third baseman Angel Arredondo. The deal, announced Wednesday night, signals a potential start to a significant roster overhaul for the Angels.

Angel's interim general manager John Mozeliak stated that the team needs to make changes, indicating that this trade is the first step. "We know we have to start shaking up this roster, and today was day one," Mozeliak said. "Clearly, where the Angels are at right now, we need to do things differently."

The Angels currently hold an American League-worst 42-66 record and are 13 1/2 games behind the Rangers in the AL West.

Silseth, 26, had been a key reliever for the Angels, posting a 3-2 record with a 2.72 earned run average over 47 appearances this season. O'Hoppe, also 26, played in 75 games, recording a .209 batting average with 23 runs batted in.

Arredondo, 19, hit .247 with eight home runs, 15 doubles, and 47 RBIs in 86 games for low-A Hickory. He joined the Rangers organization as an international free agent from Mexico in 2024.
