Angel Reese Leads Atlanta Dream to Victory with Record-Breaking Performance

The Atlanta Dream are on the cusp of their first WNBA title, thanks in large part to a dominant performance by star player Angel Reese.

Reese etched her name in the WNBA record books by becoming the youngest player in Finals history to achieve three consecutive double-doubles. Her remarkable performance in the Dream's decisive 97-71 victory over the Golden State Valkyries also marked her as the first player in league history to record three double-doubles in her first three career WNBA Finals games.

Reese finished the game with 21 points and 12 rebounds, shooting 58 percent from the field and adding three assists and three steals. Her assertiveness was evident throughout the contest, as she consistently outplayed her opposing bigs down low.

After a particularly challenging layup against Aminata Gueye, Reese was heard celebrating with her bench, stating, "She can't f*** with me." She also showcased her flashy playmaking with a no-look, over-the-head assist to Isobel Borlase late in the game.

Following the game, Reese took to social media platform X to express her elation, posting, "DUBS IN THE MF CHATTT." During the post-game press conference, she lauded the home crowd at State Farm Arena for their enthusiastic support. "Our fans showed up. They showed up in every single possession," Reese said. "I thought Ballhalla (Golden State) was loud. Atlanta, y'all came out. And on a Wednesday, on a school night, they got work tomorrow. I appreciate y'all for coming out and supporting us."

Reese's teammates Rhyne Howard, Jordin Canada, and Naz Hillmon contributed a combined 41 points, as the Dream collectively shot nearly 50 percent from the field. The Valkyries struggled offensively, with Gabby Williams leading the team with 15 points but shooting only 27 percent from the floor. Golden State as a team managed just 35 percent shooting.

The Atlanta Dream now hold a 2-1 series lead and have the opportunity to extend their advantage to a commanding three-games-to-one when they host the Valkyries again on Saturday afternoon.

The Dream are now just two wins away from their first ever WNBA championship
