Angel Reese Leads Atlanta Dream to Overtime Victory, One Step From WNBA Finals
Reese scores 23 points and grabs seven rebounds in crucial playoff win, following a striking pre-game fashion statement.
Angel Reese delivered a dominant performance, scoring 23 points and securing seven rebounds, to propel the Atlanta Dream to a thrilling 101-98 overtime victory against the New York Liberty in Game 2 of the WNBA playoff semifinals. The win places the Dream one game away from their first WNBA Finals appearance since 2013.
Reese's on-court contributions were matched by a notable pre-game presence. She arrived at State Farm Arena in a floor-length black dress with a golden zipper, paired with black high heels and accessorized with rings, a silver cuff bracelet, and hoop earrings. Her hair was styled in long waves.
Joining Reese in her 23-point effort was teammate Jordin Canada, who also contributed five rebounds and a game-leading eight assists. Reese secured the Dream's victory by hitting two free throws with 4.3 seconds remaining in overtime, after New York star Sabrina Ionescu committed a turnover.
"I think we did a great job making sure that we were all on the connected stream," Reese stated after the game. "We really stayed together and played together, and that's how we won."
Despite a 35-point, 11-rebound performance from New York's former MVP Breanna Stewart, the Liberty fell short. The game's conclusion was marked by controversy when Liberty players reportedly did not use their final timeout to advance the ball. Stewart expressed frustration post-game, stating that officials had informed her the team had no timeouts remaining, a claim that conflicted with the game's outcome.
The Atlanta Dream, who have yet to win a WNBA title, are now on the cusp of reaching the championship series.
