Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese left Sunday's game against the Chicago Sky in the fourth quarter due to a left leg injury. The incident occurred as Reese attempted a layup, causing her to fall to the floor. She was later ruled out for the remainder of the game with the injury.

Prior to her departure, Reese had a statistically difficult outing. She finished with eight points and five rebounds in 20 minutes of play, shooting 3-of-13 from the field. She also missed her only three-point attempt and committed three turnovers, posting a minus-7 rating, the lowest among Dream players. Four of her five rebounds were on the offensive end.

Reese entered the game averaging 15.7 points and a league-leading 11.8 rebounds per contest. Her previous game against Toronto on Friday was her 17th double-double of the season with 23 points and 12 rebounds. The performance against Chicago marked a significant drop from her season averages.

Dream head coach Karl Smesko stated that Reese was in "great spirits celebrating with her teammates" after the game and noted that she "wanted to go out there and keep playing" but he "didn't feel comfortable with it because she looked like she was in a lot of pain."

Despite Reese's struggles, the Atlanta Dream secured a 93-91 victory over the Sky. Jordin Canada made the game-winning layup as time expired. The win improved the Dream's record to 16-10, and Reese is now 2-0 against her former team since being traded to Atlanta in April. The Dream do not play again until July 29, providing time for Reese to recover. The WNBA All-Star Game is scheduled for July 25, and Reese's participation is uncertain due to the injury.
