Ange Postecoglou has been appointed as the new manager of Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, a move that will see him coach football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. The Australian manager has signed a two-year deal with the club, officially beginning a new chapter in his career. He takes over from Jorge Jesus, who departed Al-Nassr after leading the team to the Saudi Pro League title.

Postecoglou returns to football management more than eight months after his tenure at Nottingham Forest. He was dismissed by the English club after just 39 days, having managed only eight games without securing a victory. This period was described by Postecoglou as "brutal."

During his time at Nottingham Forest, Postecoglou recounted the experience of his sacking, noting the swiftness with which the decision was communicated and the public nature of his departure. He reflected on wanting to leave the club quickly to avoid any further negative interactions.

Despite the challenges at Nottingham Forest, Postecoglou's previous success in winning trophies, including with Celtic in Scotland and leading Tottenham Hotspur to a Europa League title, made him a sought-after candidate. He reportedly edged out rivals for the Al-Nassr position, such as current Portugal manager Roberto Martinez.

Prior to this appointment, Postecoglou had been working as a television pundit for ITV during the recent World Cup.
